Robert Baldwin City Manager currently oversees Dania Beach, Florida, the fourth city he has managed in a career that spans more than three decades. In his present role in Dania Beach, he supervises 257 city employees and manages the budget, providing essential services to the city’s 30,000 residents. These services include providing police, firemen, and lifeguards, as well as managing community pools, cemeteries, parks, city buildings, and a municipal marina, beach pier, and restaurant. Under Robert Baldwin’s direction, Dania Beach also provides residents with water, wastewater, storm sewer, code compliance, parking, and solid waste collection and disposal services.
The three other cities where Robert Baldwin was manager were Ft. Lauderdale, Hollywood, and Lake Worth. He has also managed the town of Lauderdale-by-the-Sea and performed similar duties as the Director of Administration at the Broward County Sheriff’s Office. During his career as a city manager, he has also helped out in times of crisis, being appointed in 1988 to manage the city of Sunrise while the mayor faced trial for grand theft. He was subsequently appointed to his position in Hollywood when the former City Manager resigned suddenly. At his next job with the Broward County Sheriff’s Office, he made financial and administrative reforms, which he has also implemented as the manager of Lauderdale-by-the-Sea, Lake Worth, and Dania Beach.
Before beginning his career, Robert Baldwin attended the University of Florida and earned both undergraduate and graduate degrees. In 1974 he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree, and in 1976 he earned a Master’s degree in Public Administration with a concentration in City Management and Budgeting. Since then, he has also completed training in the areas of leadership development and team building.
